high winds

May 11, 2013 by lizbarkerart

Title: high winds   Series: belongil creek Medium: creek print on canvas Size: 2 panels – 300cm h x 200cm w Date: 2012 This was the first print I made off the creek. I noticed there was a thin, almost invisible transparent layer of scummy build up. It was very subtle on the water, so I was surprised how well it came out on canvas. The build up on the edges of the creek, comes and goes seemingly randomly, and […]

storm

May 10, 2013 by lizbarkerart

Title: storm   Series: belongil creek Medium: creek print and acrylic on canvas Size: 3 panels – 600cm h x 400cm w Date: 2012 I had my new canvas’ prepared for a good few months before the scum began to reappear on the creek edges again. I decided it must be seasonal, as well as wet weather dependent, and the day it appeared was cause for celebration. This stormy day, the thick dark twiggy sections in the scum were beautiful, […]

downpour

May 10, 2013 by lizbarkerart

Title: downpour  Series: belongil creek Medium: creek print on canvas Size: 3 panels – 600cm h x 400cm w Date: 2012 I captured this print just moments before a huge tropical downpour. Notice the scum slipped off a little when i lifted each panel out of the water, creating this melting effect. When the three panels are displayed together it creates a beautiful mountain peak landscape.

Title: timelapse   Series: blobo Medium: acrylic on canvas Size: 1800cm h x 1200cm w Date: 2012 Like the other six in this series, this work began with a big blob of pink ochre house paint poured onto the stretched canvas. I followed the paint with one or two big splashes of water, and then i watched the effects of its drying. The next stage of the process is built up with acrylics and transparent mediums. I describe the process […]

Title: my brain, my heart, my sun  Series: blobo Medium: acrylic on canvas Size: 1800cm h x 1200cm w Date: 2012 The blobo series are inspired by the creek and beach near my house in belongil. I have six large canvas’ on the go. These works are a process of subtle and delicate layering of colours and textures, combined with the occasional storm of pigment which leaves it’s dramatic effect. The works start off with very random mark making. A […]

Title: flowering   Series: blobo Medium: acrylic on canvas Size: 1800cm h x 1200cm w Date: 2012 up at the river mouth, changes are experienced twice daily. one layer of beautiful truth can be layered subtly on top of the last with a gentle outgoing tide. or a wild wind may see the last natural design be covered up completely with something equally as beautiful. layer upon layer it is built up and stripped back. The waters flow to and […]
